Essential-Loads Backup

Protect what matters most first

Instead of backing up everything, an essential-loads design concentrates stored energy on a defined set of circuits. It is often the most practical starting point, with room to expand later.

Commonly prioritized circuits

  • Refrigeration and freezers
  • Lighting in key living areas
  • Internet, networking, and communications
  • Selected outlets for medical or work equipment

Loads that need extra planning

  • Central air conditioning and heat pumps
  • Well pumps, septic pumps, and irrigation
  • Electric ranges, dryers, and water heaters
  • EV charging during an outage

How circuits are selected

During the assessment we review your panel, label circuits, and agree on a backup list in writing. Smart load management can allow more flexibility than a fixed subpanel.

Expanding later

Designs can be planned so additional batteries, solar capacity, or load management may be added in phases, subject to equipment support and electrical capacity.

Essential-loads backup inquiry

Submitting a request does not create a contract, approve financing, or confirm equipment compatibility.

Backup duration depends on energy use, equipment size, weather, system configuration, and the loads selected. All designs are subject to site verification by a licensed technician.

Start focused, expand deliberately

An assessment defines the circuit list, the equipment needed, and what expansion would require later.
